The Hollies emerged from the Beat Boom (Manchester variant) in the mid-sixties, and quickly established themselves as one of the most reliable creators of melodic, harmony-drenched Pop.
Hit singles such as ‘Bus Stop’, ‘Look Through Any Window’ and ‘On A Carousel’ defined the era, and songs such as ‘King Midas In Reverse’ showed they could do Psychedelic as well as anyone. The ballads ‘He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother’ and ‘The Air That I Breathe’ showed a talent for emotive ballads, too. They’re all contained on this top value double CD set, alongside rarities and obscurities from the career of this Great British Pop Institution.
